Tutu’s House: Open House and Fall Prevention Fair

Explore a variety of free health and wellness activities and resources available for all ages, year round, at the Tutu’s House open house and fall prevention fair, 1-4 p.m. Sept. 14. Activities will include four ways to reduce your fall risk and avoid the related injuries that can limit mobility and independence:

Bag it! Some medication can make you dizzy or contribute to a fall. Collect your prescriptions and over the counter medications and bring them to Tutu’s House for a free review with a pharmacist from KTA Superstores and North Hawaii Community Hospital.

Move it! Whether you are very fit or have mobility or balance issues, sample chair exercises that can help you maintain or improve flexibility, strength, and mobility. 1:15 p.m. Zumba, 2:15 p.m. tai chi, and 3:15 p.m. yoga.

See it? Vision screening by Project Vision Hawaii. Free reading glasses provided as needed.

Safe? Learn ways to make your home safer with Hawaii Fire Department Captain Vern Hara.

Breastfeeding group potluck lunch

August is National Breastfeeding Month, and LLLUSA Live, Love, Latch! is holding a popup breakfast potluck picnic 8:30-10 a.m. on Saturday to celebrate, at the big shady grass area at the end of the track in the Old Kona Airport State Recreation Area. Please bring blankets and chairs, a breakfast item to share along with simple toys for your littles. This location is also across the street from the ocean, so you might want to bring beach necessities, too!

Also included are door prizes, a ceremony honoring moms, resources for new and expectant mothers, and a group nursing photo — the theme for the group photo is sundresses, so please wear your cutest sundress for our picture and dress your nursling to coordinate!
